Public Notice to Lafayette Parish Citizens

Louis J. Perret, Clerk of Court and Chief Election Official for the
Parish of Lafayette will hold meetings as follows:

NEW COMMISSIONER IN-PERSON TRAINING AND TESTING

Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM
Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM

1st Floor Jury Assembly Room
Lafayette Parish Courthouse
You do NOT need to let us know when you will attend!

This meeting is for those who have
NEVER SERVED
as an election commissioner.
Pay is $200 per Election with required school attendance.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  1. A Lafayette Parish Registered Voter who is able to perform the essential duties of a commissioner.

  2. A seventeen (17) year old who is participating at a 12th grade level or has completed a 12th grade education.

  3. A qualified voter of this state or a registered voter of another state who is a student at an institution of higher learning in Lafayette Parish (Must provide student identification or fee bill showing current enrollment and a copy of his/her proof of voter registration)

  4. Must not have been convicted of an election offense as defined in Chapter 10 of the Louisiana Election Code

  5. Must not be required to register as a sex offender or child predator pursuant to R.S. 15:542.

  6. Law enforcement officers shall not be eligible to serve.

COMMISSIONERS
TO RECERTIFY FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS.
